What is success anyway?
Success is fast cars, big houses, many followers, lots of capital, being the top sales performer or is it? What is it?
Perhaps it’s none of the above, and we miss it. Steven Covey best selling author, says, “If you carefully consider what you want to be said of you in the funeral experience,” he told the New York Times, “you will find your definition of success.”
Is that right? Is success down to three lines on your gravestone? Is it the external factors that people perceive? or is success something else? I think it’s the latter. Success for me is a celebration of the small wins every day.
In a conversation with my children today, I said that life is a bit like a competition, and to win, you must accomplish small things every day. Getting out of bed, brushing your teeth, and when you master the small stuff over time, they become more significant and more challenging. Making these small wins every day leads to what people call success.
I’m not there yet, but that’s my aim. I am redefining success as a story of small wins. And hopefully, when you leave this world, your gravestone will include some of the ‘success’ stories written about you.
